Over 25 years ago the NGPA was born as the GPA, and the goal was to help people, even if it was just one person. That simple, yet powerful, mission continues to benefit hundreds and thousands of LGBT aviators and friends of our community today.
The NGPA mission statement is to build, support, and unite the LGBT aviation community worldwide.
Through education, outreach programs, and social events, we promote our primary organizational goals:
• to encourage members of the LGBT community to begin piloting careers,
• to foster equal treatment of LGBT aviators through advocacy and outreach,
• to promote aviation safety, and
• to provide an affirming social and professional network for LGBT aviators.
NGPA’s mission is not limited to North America. Aviation is a global phenomenon and so is our determination to support safe aviation and a safe, affirming place in the world of aviation for LGBT aviators worldwide.
NGPA is carefully guided and governed by rules and bylaws put into place since its inception in the early 1990s. As we grow, the way we operate changes frequently. The Governance Committee is made up of elected board members and non-board members who offer a diverse range of thinking and opinion so that we have the proper checks and balances in place when taking care of the organization.
NGPA bylaws are in place to ensure the integrity of the leadership and how it operates to mold to today’s practices while our rich history and foundation remain intact.
NGPA's Board of Directors application has been closed. Please check back beginning around August 2017 for a new window.
