2018 Cape Cod Classic: Save the Date

In 1990, our first event was held in Provincetown, Mass., and it included a handful of gay pilots. Communication was by telephone, and people were to be identified by having an airplane on their shirts. During that time, members risked losing their jobs or being discharged from the military if they were outed as gay.

This eventually evolved into a national organization, and we're excited to continue to celebrate that legacy at the 2018 Cape Cod Classic, which will be held from Sept. 13-16, 2018 in Provincetown, Mass.

Set against the classic New England backdrop of Cape Cod, our flagship East Coast event is always a member favorite and is held in the gayest town in the world, Provincetown, which provides a unique, intimate, and fun environment for our members to gather while still being highly accessible due to its proximity to Boston.

We hope you'll join us on Cape this September!

Transportation

Getting to the Cape can be a bit complicated, so it's good to plan ahead. We recommend one of the following means of transport:
Drive
Cars can be easily rented from Boston Logan International Airport. The drive from Boston is very scenic, and can take from 1.5-4 hours depending on traffic. Please be prepared for delays getting on and off Cape during holidays, rush hour, and inclement weather.
Sail
Fast ferry service from Boston, which takes about 1.5 hours, is available through two operators, Boston Harbor Cruises (www.bostonharborcruises.com) and Bay State Cruises (www.baystatecruises.com). This is by far the easiest and most enjoyable way to get to P-town, and the ferries will drop you off right in the center of town. Tickets may be purchased in advance or at the ferry on the day of departure. The operators use different wharfs in Boston, so make sure you travel to the correct one and double check your departure time (schedules change to the low season in September).
Fly
Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines (www.capeair.com) offers their famed Cessna 402 service to P-town from Boston. The trip is quick and scenic, though you'll need to use a taxi in P-town once you land. If you're planning to jumpseat, ID-90, or ZED on Cape Air/Nantucket Airlines, please note that many (and we do mean many) NGPA members plan to do the same. Please take this into consideration!

Bike
When you get to P-town, biking is the best way to get around. Two local bike shops have partnered with the NGPA to offer member discounts: Gale Force Bikes (10% discount; call 508.487.4849 to book) and the P-Town Bike Shack (20% discount; call 508.487.0232 to book).
