Luke, welcome to the November 2022 issue of On The Fly!

Welcome back to our On The Fly newsletter! We have certainly missed you, and I hope you have missed us too. Due to a change in volunteer leadership, this publication paused as we sought out our newest content creators. I want to express a HUGE thank you to Hunter Hayes for his visionary leadership and hard work in the creation of this newsletter back in 2021. Now, I’d like to welcome our new leaders for NGPA Marketing & On The Fly: Jacobi Wright and Devin Fry! NGPA runs off the incredibly selfless work of our volunteers; without these individuals and their talents, our organization would not be where it is today!

Over the past few months, NGPA has been operating at FULL SPEED as in-person events have returned with a vengeance. From our Wings Over Iowa event, PRIDE celebrations worldwide, many trade shows, our Cape Cod Classic, and most recently, our Aviation Inclusion Summit, NGPA has proudly represented the LGBTQ+ Aviation Community. NGPA is relevant; we are welcomed, we are respected, and we are in demand. Our membership numbers continue to rise as we approach nearly 4,500 active members worldwide. Thank you all for being a part of this journey of growth and friendship.

Thanksgiving is upon us, offering time to reflect on the past year’s successes and growth. Regardless of what holiday you celebrate this season, family, fun, and the spirit of giving will be present. In this spirit of giving, I ask you all to think about organizations that mean a lot to you and bring good to the world. With GivingTuesday 2022 on November 29th, I hope you will pledge financial support to NGPA. As we grow, we need your support more than ever to help sustain our organization enabling the delivery of our promises to our membership. Keep an eye out for more information on this year’s GivingTuesday Campaign. We thank you in advance for your support and generosity to NGPA! Until next time, fly safe, and thank you for joining us On The Fly!

Miles of blue skies soar over the San Jacinto mountains. They provide a majestic backdrop for the NGPA's flagship Palm Springs Winter Warm-Up Presented by United Airlines. With deep Mid-Century Modern roots, the quirky, welcoming spirit of Palm Springs provides a perfect oasis for the NGPA's extremely popular winter fly-in event that has steadily grown over the years. This event will be held in the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel. The hotel is currently sold out for Thursday and Friday night, but please join our waitlist if you are interested in space those nights.

Registration also includes admission to the very successful NGPA Industry Expo Presented by United Airlines, which is the second-largest pilot recruiting and aviation networking event in the U.S. The event features keynote speakers, hundreds of ATP-qualified active airline pilots seeking employment, aviation products and services, and educational seminars for both commercial, business/corporate, and general aviation pilots. Unlike years prior, this year’s expo will be held in the Palm Springs Convention Center, conveniently located next to the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel.

Flight Deck registration begins November 16th, with general registration beginning November 18th. You can register for the event by visiting our website.

We are extremely thrilled and thankful to be leading NGPA’s marketing efforts. As your new Marketing Committee Co-Chairs, we have hopes to expand on our committee’s efforts while increasing efficiency.  If you have not had the chance to meet either of us yet, here is a brief introduction!

Jacobi Wright is a graduate student at Western Michigan University. He recently completed his undergraduate degree there and is close to completing flight training as he prepares for a future in commercial aviation. As an NGPA member, he served as vice president and president of his university chapter. In addition, he has served the board as an ad-hoc committee member and actively volunteers at NGPA events.

Devin Fry is a senior at The Ohio State University, where he is finishing his degree and flight training. After graduation, he plans to flight instruct before going to the airlines. Devin has been a part of NGPA for four years. During this time, he has served as president of his university chapter. Aside from being a Marketing Co-Chair, he has joined the Events Team and looks forward to giving back to the NGPA community.

People. Participation. Progress. On the way to satisfying our mission, flexibility is paramount to NGPA’s evolution. The Marketing Committee will undergo many changes in the coming months. Overarching goals for NGPA Marketing include the following:

  1. Distributing the content YOU want to see.
  2. Increasing organizational involvement.
  3. Strengthening connectivity between our peer organizations.

Join our team! To continue great work, we need more talented and dedicated volunteers. Reach out to either of us for more information or if you are interested in getting involved.

We want to hear from you! Starting today, we will include a feedback loop within all publications of On The Fly. If you have any questions or ideas for the Marketing Committee, submit them here.
