2023 ELECTIONS FOR TERMS

EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2024

The Board of Directors is primarily responsible for assuring that the NGPA follows its mission. In recent years it has evolved from being a working board focused on assisting the Executive Director with day-to-day operations to what is now a governing and oversight board that concentrates on the responsible management of our finances, selecting the best leaders possible, setting general policies to protect the NGPA and its members, and performing long-term strategic planning necessary to assure the ongoing success of the NGPA.

Board members can anticipate attending monthly board meetings by via Zoom as well as two in-person board meetings each year. There is also an expectation that board members serve on board committees, such as Governance or Finance, or as an advisor on operational committees which may require additional meetings each month. A few hours of pre-reading reports, working on special projects, and reviewing financials every month is also not uncommon. Board members are selected based not only on their specific skill sets but also on the Board's current needs established by the Governance Committee. To be a board member also means to be one of the biggest cheerleaders and supporters of the NGPA. This includes attending NGPA events whenever possible and acting as an NGPA ambassador to our members and the general public. Board members are also expected to make a financial contribution to the organization.
