I hope you’ve had a chance to get out and enjoy one of the many Pride Month events. Chapters coast to coast, once again, hosted record-breaking Pride Month celebrations and events throughout June. It’s inspiring to see all the representation of LGBTQ+ aviators in more and more cities - I can only imagine what seeing someone with a pair of rainbow epaulets means to those who often don’t see a reflection of themselves.
Destined to Soar to Success
Born into a family of pilots, Charlie Sanford felt called to their future career from an early age. With two pilot pathway programs underway, Charlie is stacking up professional experiences while earning a degree in Aeronautical Science at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
They offer a unique perspective on the NGPA experience as vice president of the Embry-Riddle Daytona Beach student chapter.
There is ONE MONTH LEFT to take advantage of the NGPA scholarships! Whether you are just starting your aviation journey or a seasoned professional looking to expand your horizons, with over $500k available, there is something for everyone!
This year, scholarships include:
NGPA Transgender & Non-Binary Committee Scholarship ($5,000)
NGPA General Aviation Scholarship (Multiple Amounts)
Elevated Access Flight Training Scholarship ($10,000)
Republic Airways Aviation Management Scholarship ($5,000)
PSA Airlines Aircraft Mechanic Scholarship ($4,500)

As a reminder, applicants must be members of NGPA in good standing, and complete an application by July 31st. All flight training scholarship require proof of an active 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Class Medical. Scholarship applications are reviewed by our Scholarship Selection Committee, and typically awarded in Late November to Early December.

On June 26th, members from across the country descended on Chicago for PRIDE Wings Over, part of our continuing Wings Over event series. Beginning with a welcome social at the iconic Sidetrack, the weekend included new and returning events including a tour of Wrigley Field, a Chicago Architecture Boat Tour, a day at the Museum of Science and Industry, and a fabulous dinner with drinks at Happy Camper!
The weekend culminated in the Chicago Pride March, which drew over 1M spectators who lined the streets of the Windy City in one of the largest Pride events in the country. Sandwiched between United Airlines and American Airlines, NGPA showed up and showed out, garnering massive attention from the crowd (and a great feature on local ABC7 Chicago!) Special thanks to all of the members who attended and to our fantastic community of volunteers who made this event possible! We can't wait to see you next year for PRIDE Wings Over!
NGPA is focused on encouraging more engagement with our General Aviation members. The GA committee is planning regional activities, GA-oriented content and networking at NGPA events, and educational webinars. We welcome input from all members interested in GA. Join us for any of our GA committee meetings if you'd like to learn more and offer suggestions. The meetings will be the first Tuesday of each month at 2 pm Central Time. Every June, the NGPA shows our Pride through a variety of events across the country... and around the world! From Coast to Coast, NGPA continues to grow at an incredible pace, and this is year we welcomed members all month in cities big and small as we marched, connected, and supported one another during a time where many of our basic rights are up for debate. Whether you were able to join us in person or supported from afar, we thank all of our members and volunteers for making this June one to remember!

Join NGPA and our members at the 2026 EAA AirVenture event as we gather in Oshkosh, WI this July 20-26, 2026. Each year NGPA attends EAA AirVenture and provides various opportunities for our members to network and experience what the event has to offer.
This year, our flagship event the NGPA AIRVENTURE BBQ will be on Thursday, July 23rd, 2026 @ 6pm. We can't wait to see you there!

Gabe is a recent graduate from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a Bachelor's of Aviation Business Administration. Gabe now works as an EU Operations Controller for Flexjet!
