Earlier this month, the NGPA returned to our nation’s capital, Washington, DC, where we hosted over 110 industry leaders and key stakeholders for our annual Aviation Inclusion Summit. This unique event is specifically designed to provide a space for sharing ideas and perspectives among an affirming network of peers. This year, it was our honor to welcome the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) as the opening keynote for the 2-day summit, located at ALPA’s headquarters. ALPA’s Vice President of Administration/Secretary, Captain Sean Creed, spoke on the union’s behalf, reaffirming their support of NGPA’s mission. Calling all NGPA members, friends, family, and allies!
From December 9th to January 13th, NGPA will be hosting the Aviators' Ascent fundraising campaign, dedicated to empowering and advancing the next generation of aviation professionals.
This exciting campaign invites aviation enthusiasts and supporters to rally around our future pilots and aerospace professionals. Throughout the campaign, participants will compete to be recognized as both Chapter Champions and Individual Champions. Each week, we will update the leaderboards on our website, showcasing the top contributors and fostering friendly competition among chapters and individuals alike. Support your chapter, your alma mater, and your friends!
At the close of the campaign, the top four individuals from the winning chapter, as well as the top two individuals overall will earn an exclusive reward: free airfare and Student Admission to the NGPA Winter Warm-Up!* But the prizes don't stop there! The top four earners from the runner-up chapter, and the third and fourth place runner-up individual donors will each receive: complimentary round-trip airfare to the NGPA Winter Warm-Up** There, they’ll have the opportunity to connect with industry professionals and fellow aviation enthusiasts.

This month, we have the pleasure of highlighting the accomplishments and work of Transgender and Non-Binary Committee Co-Chair Kori Necker, who has been working diligently for our community in countless ways.
An NGPA member since 2018, Kori is a strong supporter of their local chapter (Seattle- The Cascade Flyers) and is a First Officer on the A320 for Delta Airlines. Kori has worked with several gender diversity support groups and mutual aid cooperatives in the Tacoma area, but their reach extends far beyond the Pacific Northwest.
Over the past year, Kori has worked to connect Transgender and Non-Binary members to each other, and the rest of the NGPA. Kori is committed to fostering a feeling of belonging among members who may not find support in other professional organizations. Looking ahead, they hope to engage with other committees at the NGPA (including but not limited to the Women's and Military Committees) to further the mission of the Transgender and Non-Binary Committee and improve communication and collaboration between different groups.
Recent initiatives that Kori and fellow Co-Chair Parker Wilson have spearheaded include a Discord server for Transgender and Non-Binary NGPA members to connect, share information, and provide support. Kori pointed out a need for such a community, as many local and national chapters can lack Transgender and Non-Binary representation. The ability to connect with fellow aviators and enthusiasts from all over the country with shared experiences can prove an invaluable resource. An invitation to the Discord server can be found HERE.
One exciting project that Kori and Parker have been working on is a crowd-sourced list of LGBTQ+ friendly Aeromedical Examiners (AMEs), so that members can have better access to aviation medicals in a comfortable and judgement-free environment. Be on the lookout for this list coming soon!
Kori's work extends beyond the NGPA as well. They have worked with members of the FAA and fellow NGPA members to streamline the aeromedical process for Transgender and Non-Binary aviators, and assist members who have sought gender-affirming care in obtaining their medicals more easily. Future meetings with members of the FAA are planned, and a guide for obtaining medicals targeted towards Transgender and Non-Binary pilots is in the works. These efforts are an outstanding and much-needed step in ensuring that aviation truly is for everyone.
