Scholarship Selection Committee Volunteer
Position Objective & Purpose
The Scholarship Selection Committee (SSC) serves as a steward to NGPA’s Scholarship Program and other opportunity programs. Evaluators ensure that scholarships and opportunities are provided to NGPA members who best live the NGPA mission in word and deed. Evaluators review application packages for correctness and accuracy. They then score verified applications to ensure applicants are a best match for opportunities being offered.
Key Roles & Responsibilities

Support the committee chair in development projects and tasks

Advise the committee chair on new ideas or potential conflicts of interest

Maintain confidentiality of all information regarding the SSC activities, to include application package information, evaluation process information, and any decisions or scores you have made as an evaluator.

Stage 1: Auditing and verifying semifinalists/finalists

Fully review all information in 2-3 application packages for veracity

Call/follow up with listed references

Note all discrepancies found during review

Anticipate 2+ hours of review per application package

Stage 2: Scoring verified semifinalists

Review, verify information presented in 15-20 application packages

Consider total package and objectively compare to grading rubric

Score packages based on rubric provided

Anticipate less than 1 hour of review per application package

Position Expectations

Position Expectations will be listed in their entirety under SSC’s Policies and Procedures, slated to be reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors Feb 2024. Highlights include:

Member of NGPA for 2+ years and non-disclosure agreement received

Certificates/ratings commensurate with category of application packages being scored
-
Ability to commit 5 hours/week or less over two 30-day periods between August - November

Comfortable with making “cold calls” to verify information as needed
