Friends,
All month long, NGPA members have shown up in record numbers at Pride celebrations across the country. Photos and posts on social media from events big and small show the vibrancy and impact of our organization, as well as the strong sense of belonging NGPA fosters within our community.
Earlier this month, our annual Pride-focused national event, Wings Over, took place in Washington, D.C., coinciding with WorldPride. Members from across the country gathered to celebrate, joined by allies, families, and corporate supporters. This year’s float paid tribute to our transgender members, proudly featuring the colors of the trans flag. A heartfelt thank you to our DC Chapter, Out on the Runway, and especially Russ P., Hershel G., Jasmine W., and so many others whose time and energy made the weekend unforgettable.
June also marks an important milestone in LGBTQ+ history: ten years since the U.S. Supreme Court recognized marriage equality nationwide. Whether it feels like a decade has passed by— or it’s hard to believe it’s only been that long—it’s a moment worth honoring.
Beyond June, there are many ways for you to continue celebrating throughout the summer. I hope you will join us in Oshkosh during EAA’s Airventure, or in Provincetown for the Cape Cod Classic, or at one of the many local events hosted by an NGPA chapter nearby. Our community is stronger together— take advantage of all the opportunities to connect and engage with fellow members.
Looking forward to seeing many of you in Oshkosh!
With Pride,
Justin
