Message from the Executive Director May 2026

Happy Pride Month, NGPA family!
Our annual scholarship application window opens June 1st, just in time to kick off the celebrations of our community. For months, volunteers from the Scholarship Selection Committee have been working behind the scenes configuring an entirely new system, on top of the already busy time preparing for opening day.
An enormous thank you to SSC Chair Chaminda Prelis, and Vice Chairs Connor Henebry and Colin Brown for their time and efforts. As the scholarship program continues to grow and create new opportunities, it takes the dedication of several dozen volunteers to make NGPA’s annual scholarship program possible. My sincerest appreciation to everyone who has helped make our program (in my not-so-humble opinion) THE gold standard of scholarship programs.
This year, we’re honored to award over $500,000 in support of future aviators, both inside and outside of the flight deck, general aviation, career pilots, and more. Anyone with an active membership is eligible to apply, and we encourage you to help us spread the word around to those interested. Applications are accepted June 1-July 31st, and will be awarded in late Fall. These life-changing awards are made possible through individual donations and corporate grants. Without the support from both, NGPA’s scholarship program would be a fraction of its current size. Thank you, donors, for your continued trust and investment in NGPA’s education fund. Scholarships do more than fund education – they create futures for members who are leading the way, carrying out our vision of equality, authenticity, and respect everywhere.
As we set off on a fabulous Pride Month, I hope you’ll consider joining a local chapter celebration or event. The calendar is quickly being filled with planned parade marches, exhibitor booths, and more. Our friends from Windy City Flyers in Chicago will host this year’s Wings Over. Find more information on the events page of our website.
Best of luck to all scholarship applicants, and Happy Pride to all!
