About

The National Gay Pilots Association is pleased to announce the 2019 NGPA Industry Expo Presented by United Airlines, will be held Friday, Feb. 8, 2019 at the Renaissance Palm Springs Hotel. Guest speakers and educational seminars for general aviation, business/corporate, and commercial pilots are in the lineup of events, which cater to a broad range of aviation interests.

In addition to our keynote speaker series, the Expo will feature hundreds of ATP-qualified active airline pilots seeking employment, general aviation pilots interested in new products and services, and budding aviators seeking opportunities at flight schools for their career advancement.

In 2018, the NGPA was pleased to feature the following
presentations:

  • Col. William “Doug” Hall is the Director, Congressional and Interagency Affairs, U.S. Transportation Command, Washington D.C. office. He serves as the principle liaison between the U.S. Transportation Command commander and members of Congress as well as multiple military and government organizations throughout the National Capital Region. He has over 20 years of service and has flown the MC-130, the C-141, the C-5, and the C-17.

  • Flight attendant Doreen Welsh had only 90 seconds to focus on survival skills before US Airways Flight 1549 crash-landed into New York's Hudson River in 2010. Doreen takes participants on an emotional journey of that fateful day which became known as The Miracle on the Hudson.

  • On September 11, 2001, air traffic controllers accomplished the massive task of clearing the skies in a matter of minutes when United States airspace was completely closed. There are many accounts from that infamous day; listen to retired controllers Peter Zalewski and Tom Morin give first-hand accounts of how the situation unfolded from the inside out.

  • Breakout sessions and workshops focusing on LGBT issues, aviation education, and advocacy.

Our event app, which will be published this fall, will describe the event in detail. Check back soon for download instructions.
